About Gurdwaras Panjvin & Chhevin Patshahi – A Sacred Dual Presence in Nankana Sahib
As you walk the blessed path from Gurdwara Tambu Sahib Jee towards Gurdwara Janam Asthaan, you encounter two profoundly significant and spiritually rich shrines: Gurdwara Panjvin Patshahi and Gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi—located just 300 meters away from Tambu Sahib.
These two historic Gurdwaras stand side by side, enclosed within a shared boundary, symbolizing the deep continuity of Sikh spiritual leadership. Though architecturally different, their sacred purpose is unified—to preserve the divine memories of Guru Arjun Dev Ji and Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji.
🌸 Gurdwara Panjvin Patshahi – In Remembrance of Guru Arjun Dev Ji
This serene Gurdwara is dedicated to the fifth Guru, Satguru Arjun Dev Ji, the compiler of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and a true embodiment of peace, service, and sacrifice. Architecturally, this shrine is without a dome, reflecting the simplicity and humility of the Guru’s teachings.
According to tradition, Guru Arjun Dev Ji first arrived at this very site before proceeding—barefoot—towards the Janam Asthaan of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. His respectful walk is a shining example of spiritual devotion and surrender, inspiring millions even today.
🛕 Daily Parkash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is observed here, making it a living, breathing space of divine connection where visiting Sangat can sit, listen to Gurbani, and soak in the eternal wisdom of the Gurus.
⚔️ Gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi – The Legacy of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji
Standing adjacent to the shrine of the fifth Guru is Gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi, crowned with a distinctive dome, honoring the sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji—the saint-soldier who gave the Sikh faith the spirit of Meeri-Peeri (spiritual and temporal sovereignty).
In Har Samvat 1670 (1613 AD), while returning from his historic visit to Kashmir, Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji graced this sacred land with his presence. Captivated by the divine energy, his disciples established a Gur Mela at this very location to commemorate his visit.
🔸 13 Ghumaon (approx. 65 acres) of land were endowed to this Gurdham, a powerful testament to the deep reverence and love of the Sangat.
🌳 The Tree of Legacy – Preserved in Glass
It is believed that Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji rested beneath a large shady tree during his stay. While time has withered the tree itself, a sacred piece of its wood has been carefully preserved and placed within a glass case inside the dome. Today, pilgrims bow their heads and glimpse this holy relic, feeling a deep spiritual connection with the Guru’s presence.
🕯 Please note: While Parkash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji does not currently take place at Gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi, the site remains spiritually vibrant, offering visitors a space of reflection, prayer, and inspiration.
